Exeter Coast and Country Methodist Circuit
Safeguarding Risk Assessment (General Activities & Worship)
The Exeter Coast and Country Methodist Circuit is committed to creating safe, caring, and respectful environments in which all people—especially children, young people, and adults at risk—can worship, learn, and grow in faith. Safeguarding is at the heart of our mission, reflecting our belief that every person is created in the image of God and worthy of dignity, protection, and care.
This Safeguarding Risk Assessment sets out the key considerations, responsibilities, and procedures that guide our churches as they carry out worship, pastoral work, fellowship, and community activities. It supports the Methodist Church’s Safeguarding Policy and ensures that each activity is planned and delivered with safety, vigilance, and good practice at its core.
Designed for use across all churches and premises within the Circuit, this document helps leaders, volunteers, and congregations identify potential risks, apply appropriate control measures, and respond promptly to any concerns. It aims to promote consistency, accountability, and a culture in which safeguarding is understood as everyone’s responsibility.
Below you will find the key areas of risk, reporting processes, and role-specific responsibilities, together with the training and review requirements that help us maintain a safe environment for all.
