Terms of Reference for Committees and Groups
Approved by Circuit Meeting – 10 September 2025
The Exeter Coast and Country Methodist Circuit exists to support and resource the mission and ministry of its nineteen churches through shared leadership, wise stewardship, and collaborative decision-making. To enable this work, the Circuit Meeting and Circuit Leadership Team establish a number of committees and groups, each with clearly defined responsibilities and delegated authority.
These Terms of Reference set out the purpose, membership, accountability, and scope of each committee or group that serves on behalf of the Circuit. They ensure that all bodies operate transparently, in line with Methodist Standing Orders, and with the trust placed in them as part of the governance of a registered charity.
The following sections describe the role and responsibilities of each committee, outlining how they contribute to the spiritual, administrative, pastoral, financial, and missional life of the Circuit. Together, they help the Circuit steward its resources wisely, support its ministers and churches, and fulfil its calling to witness and service across the Exeter Coast and Country area.
